republicans. coming up, republicans are so upset by president obama's win they're signing petitions to cede from union. author jim moore will tell us if they're serious down there in texas. >>> the big finish tonight. thankz to president obama's re-election some republicans think the apocalypse is right around the corner, so they are reorganizing. it's gotten so bad residents in 40 states have started petitions to peacefully cede from the union. the petitions have been filed with the obama administration's we the people program. if a petition receives 25,000 signatures within 30 days, it will be reviewed by the white house and a response will be issued. so far texas, florida, georgia, and louisiana have all met the 25,000 mark. of course, the big winner is texas. over 84,000 people in texas have signed up to break way from the united states. as of tonight the white house has not issued a response to any of these petitions. rick perry has flirted with the idea of an independent texas in the past, but this time he's changed his tune. his office released a statement saying governor perry

meeting with republican congressional leaders. it'll take place on friday. president obama plans to open negotiations by calling for $1.6 trillion in additional tax revenue over the next decade. that amount is likely far more than republicans would be willing to accept and double the amount that speaker boehner had offered the president during their debt negotiations last year. today, the president is scheduled to meet with ceos from a dozen companies among them general electric, ford and ibm. they'll discuss ways to work together and try to find a balanced approach to reducing the deficit. during a closed door meeting yesterday with union leaders and liberal supporters, president obama reportedly vowed that he would "not budge" when it comes to letting the bush tax cuts expire for the country's highest earners. labor leader and president of the afl-cio was among those at the white house meeting and says he and the president are right now on the same page, richard trumka. >> we're working to make sure we're not paying a tab for a party we didn't go to. the president led with the not

president obama would have been considered a moderate republican i suppose. maybe somebody would have said he's a liberal republican, and i might have taken issue with it. i think that we're, you know, with president obama we know what we've got. and i expect more of the same. i think that he's going to try and make a deal with the republicans on this fiscal cliff thing. and i think it's the wrong way to go. i do not think that austerity and more tax cuts are going to do anything to help working people. i think it's actually going to harm working people. i think it'll end up throwing more people out of work. we should just let the bush tax cuts expire and we should end the war in afghanistan and bring those troops home. and we should start to use the additional money that's available for the investments that will put people back to work. and then ultimately, not in the short term, then ultimately begin to take care of, bring down some of these budget deficits. but i don't think that that's going to happen with the political parties as i said. so i think that it is important right
